June 23, 2012 marks 30 years since the heinous, racially-motivated murder of Vincent Chin. Chin’s death, and the subsequent failure of the legal system to bring his killers Ronald Ebens and Michael Nitz to justice, helped galvanize the Asian American community, bringing together disparate ethnic and political groups and helping to forge the sense of shared community and interest that continues into today.
To mark this occasion, Asian Pacific Americans for Progress has organized VC30, a nation-wide online townhall. Here’s the skinny:
