Suck it, all you haterz who said that Kal Penn left the White House because he was abandoning the Obama Administration!
Shortly after resigning from his post in the Obama Administration, Kal Penn fulfilled his contractual obligations to film the latest Harold and Kumar installment. Then, today, he announced that he would be rejoining the White House staff at the Office of Public Engagement as “the point person for those in the Arts, Youth, and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities”. This sounds an awful lot like the job he left earlier this year, coincidentally also with the Office of Public Engagement.
Which is great news! Most folks don’t know that Kal Penn has been doing a great job liasing between the Asian American community and the White House. Kal Penn is not only extremely well-connected in Hollywood circles, but he also seems to have a number of Asian American community leaders’ email addresses in his vast Rolodex; consequently, through his efforts, the Asian American community (and particularly the blogosphere) is well-connected with the goings-on in the White House when it comes to issues that affect APIAers.
Congratulations to Kal Penn, and I look forward to Round 2 of Kal Penn goes to the White House!
