Today marks the first day of Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. In addition to my month-long blogging series (which I hope you will come back and check out every day), here are some other awesome ways to celebrate AAPI History and Heritage around the web (check the links for details and to participate!

  • All Month:  #IAmBeyond by Smithsonian APA
    (Details coming soon)
  • All Month: AAPIVoices
Asian American bloggers from around the web are contributing pieces to the AAPIVoices project!
  • May 10: #Life2014 by Smithsonian APA
Smithsonian APA is collaborating with Flickr to create a photo and video project that captures the diversity of AAPI life. Between 12AM and 11:59PM May 10th, AAPI are invited to take photos and/or video that represent the richness of their lives and post them to Flickr. Top picks will then be displayed in a digital exhibit hosted by the Smithsonian APA Center, starting on May 26th.
  • May 10: Wikipiedia edit-a-thon by Smithsonian APA
Smithsonian APA is coordinating a mass edit-a-thon of Wikipedia’s APA-related articles. Hashtag: #WikiAPA.
