Seeking Submissions for “Faces of Asian America” AAPI Heritage Month Blog Series

To all my regular and new readers – I am planning a major blogging event for the month of May, to celebrate Asian American Heritage Month. To that end, one of my regular features will be “Faces of Asian America: Being…” which will highlight Asian Americans in various walks of life that challenge the East Asian, STEM-oriented, Model Minority Myth notions of Asian American identity.

Basically, I want to highlight the broad diversity of Asian America, and I’m looking for your help to do it!

Are you:

  • Self-identified Asian American who is Southeast Asian or Pacific Islander? Or…
  • In an “unusual” career path (musician, artist, writer, llama herder)? Or…
  • A member of the LGBTQ community (a major theme this year!)? Or…
  • Struggling with a chronic health condition (a major theme this year!)? Or…
  • Refugee status, first-, second-, or undocumented immigrant (a major theme this year)? Or…
  • Strongly religious, or atheist? Or…
  • Some other unique or fun identity that you’d like to see explored this May?

If you are interested in being highlighted and/or you know someone who would be perfect for thisplease contact me by email ([email protected]) or Twitter (@Reappropriate)!

Also, please share this post widely! Thanks!

(Also stay tuned, because based on the people who have already signed on, this May is already looking awesome!)
